I've Decided.

On a site redesign. I think how it looks is a bit loose right now, and I have projects that I want to start this Summer.

Brace yourself for "Chunism".

Also, I bought a new DVD drive magnet for 6$. Thanks to everyone who offered me advice on how to get my PS2 working again.

Fanime 2009 Day 1 - "Chun the Hustler" (1 of 4)

There's really not that much to say during my first day of fanime 2009. I was stuck studying for a midterm in Differential Equations that was at 7:30 AM everything finished at 12:20 PM, then hastily packed for the weekend until somewhere around 5 PM, which then I really arrived at con and picked up my badge around 6 PM or so. At that point I had missed both Momo-i's panel, "Path of the Otaku", and pretty much spent the remainder unpacking in the room I was staying in and prepped my goods for Swap Meet.

After just a quick hour of BlazBlue on the HAPP stick parts in the Arcade (I like my Sanwa/Hori Buttons...), I lined up for Swap Meet. It was about 10 minutes before placement that I realized I didn't have anything for Momo-i to sign tomorrow. I loved the Nurse Witch Komugi series that I saw a while back (BIGSIGHTOTRON!!!) and planned to own it eventually, so I managed to run to the dealer's hall, buy the complete collection for 30$. Surprised not everything Momo-i was inflated; in reality I don't think the dealers even realized who was there.

Getting through the line and the paperwork was a quick process, and in the end I specially requested a wall space. I find the islands in the center to be too vulnerable, and I like having a space in front of me to work with.

That said, I put on my red bandanna and got to work.

To be honest, I had been planning for this sale since last year, so random things I saw on sale were what I had. As Califonia law states, I qualify as an "Occassional Seller" since I only sell at most twice every year.

Chun's Side Selling Notes:

-Honestly I'm somewhat bummed I missed the "Fate: Unlimited Codes" (Read As: The Game Capcom Made To Laugh At You With) tournament at 8PM (Swap Meet started at 8:30PM), but this money fueled my weekend, so I was quite content.

- PVCs must be the hardest thing to sell at a meet, due to their value. I also realized posters are something that fly away quickly if they look good enough (A Gravion stick poster of Mizuki Tachibana sold for 4. I'm convinced it was because of the breasts).

-My Co-Seller, ININ, was cosplaying as Edward Elric. His pitch? "Help Ed find the Philosopher's Stone! Buy something today!"

Looking pretty relaxed there, Ed. We both made a killing.

Next up: Day 2, Momo-i Preparation, Masquerade, and BlazBlue official Rank Battles!

Sorry for the Hiatus

http://www.fanime.com/events/panels/listen.html#10

Been working out some kinks for a lot of things in Fanime. Midterms also hit. Expect some sort of other relevant news soon enough; if time permits it.

Also, I marathon'd Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Freaking Amazing.

Thanks for your patience.

Game Rice: Actress Again to Release in August, Ryougi Playable

From main website.

When I'm not playing Pangya, I'm off playing BlazBlue. If I'm not playing BlazBlue, I go play Fate: Unlimited Codes. Before these two, I played Melty Blood: Act Cadenza, and played the best character in the game (On My List), Aoko.

With the new announcement of Shiki entering the fray, and with the PS2 version coming in the later months, I'm estatic.

My primary concerns are that Shiki may just play like a Tohno Shiki clone, which I'd expect, but only to a certain extent. Let's not just skin Tohno a female and alter some of the few high kicks he has and whatnot; let me see some loops or unique dash motions. Kara no Kyoukai is a great series of films; there's definately some working material.

Ahh... back into the Melty Days.

The Return of Pangya USA - Screenshots/Changes + 1st Impressions

Before The Shutdown

After The Revival

Today I was able to play one tournament game and test out the current Open Beta. The client is smooth, minimal errors, and everything looks clean and well done (No-half arsed Descriptions, etc.).

Probably the most memorable thing (Besides failing on Sepia Wind with a -18), everyone on the server became a Trap/Reverse Trap (Also Known As: "When I went to Ntreev, I became a girl"). Currently Ntreev USA is doing maintenance to fix these small things, but overall I am very happy with the transfer.

Mostly all the points that I highlighted in this post last month were covered, and for that I applaud them:
  • Everyone's Pang was reset to the starting 3000 Pang.
  • Every item previously owned was transferred completely intact.
  • Course records were reset.
Some Notes:
  • Scout is now named "Nuri".
  • Phoenixes are now called "Comets" (To fit the "Swing for the Heavens")
  • A18-Related Logos were all cleaned and changed to "Pangya" (Particularly the Guild Battle Winners Shirts)
From my experiences in Grand Chase, Ntreev knows how to run events, keep things balanced, and are very open to ideas/receptive to their community. It is with this hope I can see new events and a greater sense of community once more, and meet the people that I've lost, again on the greens.

Some Hopes:
  • Custom Tourney Option Once Again (Been Waiting For These)
  • Better Events/Non-Generic x2 XP/Pang Days
  • Open-mindedness to Voice Clubs and Associated In-Game Items (JP voices, Special Clubs/Items from Other Servers)
  • Season 4 Not Far From Arriving (Grand Chase is releasing characters at a standard rate, so I assume they will follow with their Pangya releases)
Some fun screenshots for your pleasure.

Various Random Photos with Old Vets/Players:

Extra: I find taking photos of my characters in different settings/outfits like a Photo Shoot entertaining. I actually took a lot of sad-face photos of the other couple of girls in the case nothing was transferred/server was gone forever. Seeing as we're in the good now, I present the "Sadface: Before the Shutdown" Arin and Hana pictures. It's nothing big, but I did put some effort into them. Too bad my username could not be removed....

Arin:Hana:

With that, I hope to see all of you on the greens, and look forward to having a wonderful time on Pangya USA.

Not-Dead Update: Tenative Miku Panel Time Scheduled!

So the tentative schedule of panels for Fanime was e-mailed today, and I'm pretty content with the placement. I do fight slightly with the last hour of the 3 hours of the Gainax panel, but I'm hoping the attendance is good nevertheless. So the current date is 5PM to 7PM. I'm thankful that the GOH is before mine and not during; seeing as Momoi Halko or another prominent guest will be taking that slot, hopefully the gathered traffic will come by.

So sorry for the lack of updates due to a busy quarter schedule; hear more later this week.

Also, hooray for Pangya account transfer being confirmed! \o/

I've Been Called

BEGIN TRANSMISSION OF INTENT:

This morning I was given the order to change from personality type 0034 (Chunism) and sortie into personality type 9231 (Covert Operation 12).

Unfortunately this means my current activities as type 0034 will now cease and I will become part of the eyes that bind the nation behind its drawers.

What does all of this mean.

I never loved this "Kooh".

Miku Hatsune and the rest were uncompromisable elements, I don't own any of the material that I've written; I stole most of it from type 0231.

As of now this may be the last message I have for all of you.

"Under one sky."

Goodbye.

Quickie: Hatsune Miku Project Diva Gameplay + Panel Updates

In the middle of my finals week so I'm keeping this post short.

I found this video while browsing Miku things. This game looks really good (Better than the previous floaty music cursors in the preview). I'm tempted to buy a PSP for this and Pangya JP, as Kooh isn't Kooh without Kugimiya Rie (Easier to import than KR too). Also, in the past I've had a discussion about difficulty of Project Diva with my friend Spiritsnare. According to him, another game, IDOLM@STER Live for You! is a joke of a music game, as most anime-related franchises are. This looks decently difficult; this is a level 4 out of 5 run.

Ntreev has replied to me about my request for their appearance at Fanime. It's a waiting game for now, but for sure my panels are in construction; one with Pangya with nstarz's help, another with the Vocaloid situation.

Preparing For Panels...(Fanime Con Preparation for Pangya/Vocaloid)

Wonder if Ntreev will be interested in coming by; OGPlanet in the past called me directly and we talked about what exactly my panel would consist of and what kind of ambiance Fanime Con has. I still have some old promo goods from them as well (Albiet just postcards). Anyway, consider this an advance notice, as either way I'm planning to again do my Pangya panel this year.

However, I'm also working on a Vocaloid Panel, so both will prove to be, at the very least, entertaining; I'd appreciate any input people may have as to what I could cover in such a panel.

Information again can be found at http://www.fanime.com for location, registration, etc.

Game Rice: Goodbye, OGP. Hello, NTreev + What NTtreev Should Include in the Move

Today, according to PST (My home area time), is the last day before the server shutdown on OGPlanet after 3 years. I've been there since its first legs on closed beta; a little more than 3 years ago, and now it's off tomorrow.

I spent some of my time today taking photos of my characters before seeing them again tomorrow in their new home.

Knowing Sweatdrop is probably going to build some steam and write that lengthy post he was planning to write tomorrow, I will probably fashion something similar in a worst case scenario. I'm extremely grateful for Ntreev's move to import data from the previous server, but at the same time I'm concerned.

These 3 years of item collection; a lot of memories, from the first time I bought a Rebel Glove for my Hana, after buying her and working Scout to get the funds for her. That feeling of finally obtaining something happened again after the Kooh release; the Amateur E ribbons that I finally obtained, not for the curve slots, but just her trademark look.

It's because of this I'm worried for what exactly is imported. We have:

Data (Best Scores, Rank, EXP)
Pang
Closet Goods (Outfits, etc.)

The smart move, in my opinion, is to reset the pang, import rank data (But not the score data due to the hacker situation), and move all the closet goods.

Why reset the pang? What broke OGP? Pang economies that made prices impossible; the feeling of helplessness as people tried to obtain basic rare necessities.

Why exclude scores? I know people that worked hard for their results. However, if the choice was made to either keep high scores amongst a hacker era, or start fresh with others towards aiming high once more; I hope most of you would agree with the latter.

Closet goods are irreplaceable. They are the lifeblood of the game after all; if you're not aiming for the score, you're making your characters look cool/cute. When all of it is lost, how many people will want to continue and rebuild when they've done so much already?

NTreev, as of 3:30 PM PST, has still yet to announce their decisions, and OGP is acting like it never owned it in the first place. All we can do is wait.

In the mean time, I've been playing a game called Grand Chase under the NTreev name. It's a very entertaining multiplayer platforming and collection game. As usual, my username there is Chun.

Best wishes to all of us Pangya fans in the future. More posts to come after the move.

Dear JP Pangya, I Miss You, Call Me Back

Every year there's a birthday celebration for Kooh and various fun related events happen every year. I received notice of this through the newsletter I get from the game; just can't access the server.

...what I'd do to get my JP Pangya account back... the things I'd do...

...Hatsune Mikooh...
Koohgimiya Rie clubs...

Pang Rice: A18 Is Pangya USA + Quick Speculation

Some people have already refered to me that Pangya is actually going to transfer data to NTREEV and now all is well in the world.

I did meet an employee from NTREEV during my panel at Fanime 2008 last year, and it was a nice experience (Though the turnout was small).

I think I'll give American Pangya another shot after the first week or so. It'll really be to gauge how NTREEV decides to handle the current BR etiquette situation and the lot of hacking (Which I hope for good things, since this is their precursor to the "Super Swing Golf" Franchise).

Frankly, I'm just glad Kooh will still be with me.

More info as this comes around, and current game excursions; also, I've been looking to scanlate something (Though the manga must have furigana; I'm not versed enough in Kanji). I would like it if it wasn't too shonen, or just something that has a slice of life feel to it. Though I am a one person team, so don't expect too much.

I've also got a better video solution to my youtube; so I can now take questions for A18 radio. Comment here or e-mail to: chunhiopangya at hotmail dot com.

Chin up.

Empty Pang Rice: OGPlanet Announces Albatross18 Shutdown

"Albatross18 Players,

We are sorry to announce that Albatross18 will be closing its services. We have had some good times, but the servers will be going down. For the time being, you will still be able to play, and until the servers go down on March 10th, you can use your Astros to make purchases from the shop or from any other OGPlanet game.

In fact, we think you will love our other games so much, we will give you special prizes just for trying them out. If you create a new character in Rumble Fighter, CABAL Online, or La Tale between now and March 8th, we will give you a special item to help get you further in the games faster. Note that players will only receive special items for characters created during this period and only for games in which they did not previously already have a character.

So, for now, enjoy Albatross18 and remember to try our other games before March 8th to get your free gifts! We are currently working with the developer on the future of the game and we will make an announcement once we have more information. Until then, will keep Albatross18 running smoothly until the servers go down on March 10th. We are glad that we could share all of these good times with you and we hope to share more in the other OGPlanet games!"

...

To be honest, I could see this direction was coming, but now it's just sad seeing how everything is right now. What really hurts the most is that they think they can amend the situation by trying to buy us in to their other games from the previous. I'm really going to miss my friends that I met there (Of whom I don't have contact info), the memories of the records I have made and the hours I put into organizing events for them, and finally, as you all know, my Kooh.

My Halo X-Mas Gifted, Olympic Scratchcard Won, Many Cookies Spent, but most of all, cherished partner in Pangya. It's moments like this that really ruin my rhythm.

Currently OGPlanet talks are in progress with the developer so there is a possibility of data transfer/not all acquisitions lost, but until then, I'm screenshotting until no tomorrow before March 10th.

A big thanks to the hackers, disrespectful players, and overall horrible community for bringing this about. If we didn't have scum like you, we could still be playing with the courtesy of Season 1. Also thanks to OGP for not noticing buying multiple licenses causes stress on game quality and moderation.

I think I can, just this once, let out my inhibitions.

Fuck. You. OGP. I'm sorry I put any faith in you.

More updates as they come about, and messages later... I guess I'll focus on my KR account from now on (ChunandRice).

What to do about my Pangya Panel now...

Game Rice: ...What the hell am I supposed to do?!

...WHERE'S THE "LET'S BE FRIENDS" OPTION?!

Maybe the choices should be "Be a prick to your other girl" or "Be a shonen manga protagonist". Or for hell's sake make a bloody point to not even bring this up beforehand... lazy programming orz

Update Later That Night:

...ok seriously, what the hell. I, for one, would not just stand there when a girl is crying. At the same time, I'm not one to just fly away into another girl's heart because one needs comforting... this is so much worse.

Son of a gun...

Happy Belated New Year

New Year's Resolutions:

1. Develop that Visual Novel I've had in mind for two years.
...Too bad I can't CG worth anything.

2. Play more Pangya.
Hooray for Korean friends at college and their help.

3. Place first in a fighting game tourney.
I've placed 3rd so far at BlazBlue; "I gotta believe!"

4. Update this blog more.
...Psh, what do you mean, I update this blog all the time.
